Abstract

This paper presents calculations for the unperturbed electric field between parallel plates of various configurations. Also, the calculated perturbation caused by a conductive object placed between the plates is compared with the corresponding perturbation in a transmission line field. Conclusions on the performance of laboratory parallel plate arrangements used for the study of electric-field related biological effects are given. Calculations are compared with actual field measurements done by others, and show very good agreement.
