Abstract

Abstract A chemical absorption using three different solvent blends based on piperazine promoted potassium carbonate has been conducted with the simulation program Aspen Plus. In addition, a coal-fired power plant has been modelled in EbsilonProfessional. Different operating conditions within the system were considered for sensitivity analyses. These include the variation of: Initial solvent lean loading, two temperature approaches within cross heat exchanger and desorber pressure. Representative results helped to determine dependencies within the scrubbing process that directly affect a power plant.
