Abstract

The NoSQL DBMS offers efficient solutions for storing and analyzing big data. The NoSQL data model provides better flexibility, schema less model, efficient storage and access mechanism. Due to these characteristics many organizations, real time web applications and social networking sites have started focusing towards NoSQL database adoption. As opposed to traditional databases (RDBMS) NoSQL databases more focuses on performance and availability compared to security and consistency. As NoSQL databases consider security with less priority, these databases are susceptible to different security threats. It can be hacked, injected with malicious codes, modified or even destroyed. Thus security is a critical issue for data analysis using NoSQL databases. This paper, discusses about NoSQL data models and outlines their numerous features. After this demonstration, it discusses about the security vulnerabilities, different attack mechanisms on NoSQL databases and mitigation techniques.
