Abstract

An analysis of transient heat and mass transfer within a porous catalyst particle has been made on the basis of an approximate model, that consists of two nonlinear ordinary differential equations. Classification of solutions of equations in the neighborhood of steady states and a discussion of questions of stability was performed on the basis of the first method of Ljapunov. Conclusions on the stability of given steady states are expressed in the form of analytic criteria. The results obtained are verified a numerically solved examples. A possibility of existence of limit cycle is proved and discussed for unstable cases.
