Abstract

In this paper, bodies of revolution finite difference time domain (BOR-FDTD) combined with direct integration method are used to model cylindrical fiber bragg grating (FBG) and distributed bragg resonator (DBR) composed of linear and non-linear layers. The non-linear properties in this paper are mainly based on self phase modulation (SPM). It is shown that the nonlinear effect provides an additional degree of freedom to design devices with tunable characteristics such as tunable filters and WDM.
