Abstract

The mitochondrial DNA control region has been analyzed to obtain the haplotype frequencies data in 97 unrelated Japanese individuals living in Kanagawa by means of the mitoSEQr™ resequencing system, followed by capillary electrophoresis using the ABI PRISM 310 genetic analyzer. A total of 91 haplotypes were detected, of which 85 haplotypes were unique and the others were occurred two times. The polymorphic profiles in the present study were essentially the same as those obtained from Japanese former studies. The nucleotide subsutitution at the position 16,519 (nucleotide transition from T to C) was found at the rate of 52.6%. The genetic diversity and the probability of identity were calculated as 0.9987 and 0.0116, respectively. From the present study, the mitoSEQr™ resequencing system was applicable to routine casework.
