Abstract

Rigorous analysis of microstrip discontinuities on cylindrical surfaces is useful in the design of microstrip circuits on a cylindrical body. However, related studies are very scant in the open literature. This paper presents a full-wave solution for cylindrical microstrip open-end and gap discontinuities. Numerical results are obtained using a moment-method calculation, in which a combination of entire-domain sinusoidal and piecewise sinusoidal (PWS) basis functions is used to represent the currents on the microstrip line. The characteristics of such microstrip discontinuities for various curvatures are analyzed.
