Abstract

A numerical method is developed to analyze microstrip dipole antennas on a planar layered metamaterial substrate based on periodic "method of moments" (MoM). In the developed numerical method the spectral domain Green function in conjunction with the "array scanning method" (ASM) is applied. The substrate is made of planar periodic metallic patches inserted in a two layer grounded dielectric slab. Effects of metamaterial loading on input impedance of dipole antennas is investigated using the developed numerical method. It is shown that with metamaterial loading antenna miniaturization is achieved.
