Abstract

This paper presents a procedure for determining the angle of quadrant elevation of the barrel tube axis, with particular emphasis on methods for calculating the elevation correction based on the target and firing position elevation difference for units equipped with the DANA 152 mm self-propelled howitzer. The paper considers methods for determining the quadrant elevation angle correction using both the initial and final elements of the projectile’s trajectory. The paper includes a comparison of the results of determining the angle of quadrant elevation calculated using different methods. Additionally, it addresses the problem of determining the quadrant elevation angle correction for the DANA 152 mm self-propelled howitzer during high-angle fire.
