Abstract
A simulation model is developed for the analysis of a multi-product, multi-component, multi-stage manufacturing and quality system, incorporating the concept of quality on the basis of both the lot proportion defectives as well as the lot proportion defects. The output of the simulation model gives the average total cost and the average outgoing quality of the products produced in a manufacturing system in a lot-by-lot fashion. Using the cost and quality information of different lots simulated, the analyst can evaluate and choose the desired combination of the quality of the incoming components, quality of the manufacturing and assembly process, and lot-by-lot (LBL) single sampling plans by attributes with rectification.
