Abstract

Perpendicular magnetic recording using a single-pole head and a double-layer medium has been simulated with computer to investigate the mechanisms of its extremely high density recording. Self-consistent vectorial magnetization distribution in the interior of a Co-Cr layer have been computed by introducing the curling incoherent model for the magnetization reversal of crystalline particles in the Co-Cr layer. The effect of the head-to-medium magnetic interaction on the head field distribution or the vectorial magnetization transition has been examined by the simulation.
