Abstract

An elastoplastic stress analysis of a NiTi coupler and a stainless steel tube was performed to predict the interfacial contact zone and corresponding contact pressure distribution. The tubecoupler junction was analyzed using the ADINA finite element program. The predicted deformations match the measured values well at the inner tube surface. The corresponding interface stresses are to be correlated with ultrasonic reflection measurements from the interface.
