Abstract

This paper describes the author's activities related to computer vision based methods for analyzing human behaviors: more specifically, posture estimation and recognizing interactions between a human body and object. For estimating postures in 3D from multiple camera images, the authors developed a heuristic based method and non-heuristic method. The heuristic based method heuristically analyzes the contour of a human silhouette so that significant points of a human body can be located in each image. The non-heuristic method utilizes a function for analyzing contours without using heuristic rules. Recognizing the interactions exploits the function based contour analysis and motion vector based analysis so that the system can judge whether the human body interacts with the object.
