Abstract

ABSTRACT The study examined the energy type used for household cooking in Abeokuta South Local Government Area of Ogun State, Nigeria. Primary data were obtained from the 15 existing political wards in the LGA. Secondary data was obtained from the National Population Commission and the State Independent National Electoral Commission. Responses were analyzed using frequency, percentage, pie-graph and Analysis of Variance. Results showed that Kerosene with (58.9%) is the dominant energy used in the area. Variations in fuel energy used in the area were significant (F=25.2, P < 0.05). In conclusion, hydrocarbons from unclean energy types dominate in the study area.
