Abstract

Objective To investigate the current status of health-promoting lifestyle of aged care workers and explore its influence factors. Methods By convenient sampling method, a total of 180 aged care workers were selected and were investigated by general information questionnaire and health-promoting lifestyle profile Ⅱ (HPLP-Ⅱ) from Feburary to June 2016. The collected data were analyzed by SPSS 20.0. Results The total score of health-promoting lifestyle of aged care workers was (117.60±8.82) . The average scores of the items in six dimensions were interpersonal relation (2.69±0.35) , health responsibility (2.45±0.27) , nutrition (2.30±0.27) , stress management (2.27±0.41) , self-actualization (2.19±0.40) , and physical activity (1.69±0.25) . The scores of health-promoting lifestyle exhibited statistically significant differences among aged care workers with different genders, educational levels, numbers of persons to care, religious believes and monthly salary (t=3.502, 13.983, 19.545, 5.756, 4.233; P<0.05) . Multiple regression analysis showed that gender, religious belief, number of recipients to care, and educational levels were main influence factors of health-promoting lifestyle of aged care workers (P<0.05) . Conclusions The level of health-promoting lifestyle of aged care workers is mediocre with the highest score in interpersonal relation and the lowest score in physical activity. Managers should provide specific interventions to the lifestyles of the aged care workers and promote their good health-promoting lifestyle. Key words: Aged care workers; Health-promoting; Lifestyle
