Abstract
To investigate the status and influencing factors of health literacy level among rural residents in Manas County, Xinjiang, and to provide evidence for formulating health education strategies. From April 2018 to July 2018, a stratified sampling method was used to conduct a questionnaire survey of 776 residents who met the inclusion criteria in 4 townships of Manas County. The results showed that the health literacy level of residents in Manas County was 8.6%, among which the basic knowledge and concept, healthy lifestyle and behavior, and health skills were 22.8%, 8.0%, and 9.5%, respectively. Safety and first aid literacy was 86.6%. Scientific health concept literacy 64.6%, chronic disease prevention and control literacy 24.2%, health information literacy 12.5%, basic medical literacy 5.9% and infectious disease prevention literacy 5.0%; logistic regression analysis showed that the main factor affecting the health literacy of rural residents in Manas County is ethnic (OR=4.333), educational level (OR=2.697, 4.711, 20.188) and annual household income (OR=4.164, 10.589). Ethnic minorities, low educational level and low-income residents should be paid attention to when formulating health education strategies.
