Abstract

A comparative analysis of the F-shape antenna with variation in material and thickness is presented in this paper. The proposed antenna has a size of 40 mm × 30 mm × (0.8 mm/1.6 mm). The proposed antenna is simulated by using three different substrates, i.e., FR4 (1.6 mm), RT Duroid® 5880 (0.8 mm) and RT Duroid® 5880 (1.6 mm). When FR4 is used as a substrate, the percentage bandwidth at lower resonance frequency, i.e., 2.40 GHz is 15.45% and at the higher resonance frequency, i.e., 26.93 GHz is 74.5%. Further same design is simulated using RT Duroid® 5880 (0.8 mm) as a substrate, the percentage bandwidth in the lower resonant frequency, i.e., 3.29 GHz is 15.29% and at the higher resonance frequency, i.e., 17.34 GHz is 26.2%. Later RT Duroid® 5880 (1.6 mm) is used as a substrate, the percentage bandwidth at lower resonance frequency, i.e., 2.77 GHz is 19.63% and at higher resonance frequency, i.e., 19.84 GHz is 13.67%. Defected Ground Structure is used in the proposed antenna. All the proposed antennas are simulated by using High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) software version 13.0.
