Abstract

Low tensile strength, fatigue, and friction resistance are the key factors that limit the application of PVDF in engineering. The improvement of its comprehensive mechanical properties will prolong the service life of PVDF pipe fittings and piezoelectric materials. In this article, SiO2/PVDF composites are prepared by hot pressing, the mechanical property, fatigue damage property, and friction property have been discussed. The tensile strength of PVDF prepared by hot pressing method is 46.173 MPa, which is 61.52% higher than that prepared by solution casting method. After cyclic load test, the plastic strain is decreased with increasing of content of SiO2. The wear resistance of SiO2/PVDF is best when the content of SiO2 is 4 wt%, and the mass wear rate is 1.00849 × 10−6 g/m. The mechanical properties and friction resistance of PVDF composites are improved by selecting appropriate preparation process and adding fillers.
