Abstract

This paper proposes the design of low pass Elliptic filter in fractional-order domain. By designing in fractional domain an extra degree of freedom has been achieved, which provides relationship between cutoff frequency and order of fractional filter. The effect of bandwidth on fractional order Elliptic filter is presented. The magnitude response of integer and fractional order Elliptic filter has been analyzed. Proposed design has inherent advantages as compared to Butterworth and Chebyshev filter in integer and fractional domain. The comparison of fractional order Chebyshev and Elliptic filter for same specifications has been presented. Numerical analysis is done using MATLAB.
