Abstract

In this study, an attempt is made to find the effect of constant pavement thickness (as per template of IRC-37) for every replacement of expansive subgrade soil on pavement performance under loading condition through finite element analysis. Analysis 1: To find the effect of variable pavement thickness (as per effective CBR of subgrade soil in IRC-37) for every replacement of expansive subgrade soil on pavement performance under loading condition through finite element analysis. Analysis 2: Pavement life is also estimated in terms of rutting and fatigue cycles for the above by using the IRC: 37-2012 fatigue and rutting criteria. Considering both fatigue life and rutting life the most durable pavement model among Analysis 1 and Analysis 2 is A1.4 (300 mm replacement).
