Abstract

Construction of an HVDC transmission line is the latest technique in Pakistan to transfer the bulk power to long-distance areas, likewise constructing of 660kV HVDC transmission line from Matiari to Lahore (878km). Many factors strongly influenced the efficiency and the performance of transmission lines like corona loss. Corona discharging characteristics are strongly influenced by polarity, humidity, pressure, and temperature. The environmental operating conditions of transmission lines in Pakistan are pretty different as compared to other countries. That’s why I will find out the effect of temperature on corona discharging characteristics using a self-consistent plasma model. In my research paper, the study of negative and positive corona discharge using a self-consistent plasma model in dry air at various temperatures and the same pressure and humidity will be performed. To investigate the effect of temperature, I have designed the Model in COMSOL Multi-physics. The geometry of the model is one-dimensional that explains the behaviour of charged species. The discharge is assumed to be diffused and uniform in the radial direction. The discharge is sustained in two electrodes by using the D.C. high voltage. A self-consistent plasma model is used to investigate the influence of temperature on positive and negative corona discharging properties at constant pressure. Space charge density, electric field, ion density, and the number density of space charge species of Positive and negative corona will be analyzed in this paper.
