Abstract

Optical fiber undergoes distortion while traveling through the fiber optic transmission system. This is due to the effect of dispersion at different frequencies; mode of light pulse in fiber transmits at different rates, so that these frequency components receive the fiber terminals at different time. Dispersion compensation is required to overcome fiber optic dispersion effects in fiber optic transmission system. Dispersion compensation technique used in this paper deals with the Electronic Dispersion Compensation (EDC) using equalizer in which the decision feed forward equalizer is used. The Q-factor, Bit Error Rate (BER) of electronic compensation is analyzed before equalization and after equalization and visualized using BER analyzer.
