Abstract

AbstractDue to the obvious difference between the stiffness of the ballast track and the ballastless track, when a high-speed train enters the ballastless track from the ballast track, additional wheel-rail contact force will be generated. According to the investigation of the transition section, a series of problems occurred in the transition section from the ballast track to the ballastless track under the long-term effect of the train load, resulting in damage to the track structure. This chapter, based on major structure patterns and design parameters of the transition track between the ballast track and the ballastless track, together with the vehicle model and the track model and their algorithm presented in Chap. 9 while taking into account of the influence of the train speed and the track stiffness, offers parameter analyses for the transition section between the ballast track and the ballastless track. Hopefully, such an analysis provides a theoretical guidance for designing and choosing of the track stiffness in the track transition.
