Abstract

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) or drones are a growing technological boon to major fields which possess high complexity in logistics such as defense systems, cargo transportation, mapping geographic locations and terrain, border surveillance, medical emergency shipments, and many other areas where humans find it inaccessible or inefficient to work. Drones can cope with tasks that demand precisive services and tasks that are inefficient under human intervention. Precision agriculture deals with efficiency as a key factor and it uses information technology to keep track of optimum health of the crops and productivity of a particular crop field using precisive approach which can be done with the help of purposely modified drones for precision agriculture. This chapter analyses and evaluates the significance of drones in precision agriculture, challenges possessed in scaling them, and solutions to implement them in large-scale environments. In the future, cognitive analysis and sensory evaluation can be used to further reduce the complexity of accessing drones in various environments.
