Abstract

Objective To explore the status of discharge readiness and its influencing factors in patients with chronic hepatitis B. Methods From April 2016 to January 2017, a total of 218 chronic hepatitis B patients from a Class Ⅲ Grade A Hospital in Mianyang Sichuan were recruited in the research by convenience sampling method. All the patients were investigated 4 hours before discharge with Readiness for Hospital Discharge Scale (RHDS) , and the influencing factors were analyzed by single factor and multiple stepwise regression. Results The total score of patients' discharge readiness was (160.76±24.73) . Dimension scores from low to high were disease knowledge (5.93±1.86) , coping ability after discharge (6.87±0.73) , personal status (7.25±1.49) and expected social support (7.83±2.35) . The multivariate analysis showed that gender, education level, residence and medical resources after discharge had statistically significant influence on patients' readiness for hospital discharge (β'= -0.242, 0.210, 0.202, -0.267; P<0.05) . Conclusions The readiness for hospital discharge of chronic hepatitis B patients still need to be improved. Health professionals should enhance health education during hospitalization, and ensure the transitional care after discharge, in order to improve the patient's discharge readiness. Key words: Hepatitis B, chronic; Readiness for hospital discharge; Questionnaires
