Abstract

In Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) packet size optimization is serious issue concerned with the performance of the network. In WSNs environment the packets which are longer in size may experience the loss rates which are higher and as a result there will be a lot of retransmission whereas the packets which are shorter in size may experience more overhead because the overhead is associated with each packet. For that reason the optimum packet size selection is very significant for the performance of WSNs environment. In this research different techniques of packet optimization for Terrestrial Wireless Sensor Networks (TWSNs) environment are analyzed in detail. This research will encourage the research community for further exploring this area of research in order to identify and resolve more challenging issues.
