Abstract

The Analysis of dielectric Rod Antenna integrated with Dual mode reciprocal phase shifter for phased array application has been presented. The analysis of the structure has been presented as the dielectric rod antenna structure used in phased array application. An attempt to study and analyze the dielectric rod antenna has been done by many researchers according to their designs. The dielectric cylindrical antennas belong to the class of surface wave antennas. The wave excites the HE11 surface waves in and on the dielectric rod. The dominant mode HE11 is the widely used mode in the dielectric rod antenna, though TM 0m mode has been sometimes used. It is assumed that the radiation takes place only from the two aperture at the feed and free end. These cylindrical antennas behave like an end-fire antennas with a major lobe in the forward direction. The design equations and calculations are done considering HE1 1 mode. To feed the energy to the antenna over infinite ground plane aperture coupling feed is provided. The simulated and theoretical results are compared. The radiation pattern, insertion loss and bandwidth are obtained for the structure simulated in HFSS. The radiation observed is an endfire radiation with major lobe in the forward direction.
