Abstract

The 32 channels dense wavelength division multiplexing passive optical network (DWDM-PON) link is designed with the reach of 40km and 1:32 passive power splitter. A downstream wavelength modulated at the peak data rate of 10Gb/s and each upstream wavelength modulated at the rate of 2.5Gb/s. DWDM-PON performance is analyzed for non-return to zero (NRZ) external modulation (EM) and return to zero (RZ)-EM modulation. Performance parameters are meticulously analyzed with respect to fiber reach and launch power. In addition to this DWDM-PON is analyzed for different ITU-T channel spacing from 12.5GHz to 50GHz and result are described factually for both modulation format.
