Abstract

AbstractA numerical technique is presented for characterizing the radiation patterns and mutual coupling of conformal antennas mounted on a complex platform. This technique uses the higher‐order finite element method (FEM) to model the antennas and the platform and employs the boundary integral equation to terminate the FEM computational domain. The resulting numerical system is solved using a novel preconditioner in conjunction with the multilevel fast multipole algorithm for the fast evaluation of boundary integrals. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
