Abstract

It is increasingly clear that biofuels can be a viable source of renewable energy in contrast to the finite nature fossil fuel energy, which cause geopolitical instability and deleterious global effects. Biogas production requires certain conditions for the stable release of methane. In this paper, an analysis of livestock waste or manure biomass accumulated over the past nine years under the climatological conditions of Kazakhstan for the production of biogas and stable methane emissions is presented, as well as the stock of raw materials for biomass production from waste or manure in the next five years. The article aims to answering the question: What are the possibilities of biogas production in Kazakhstan?. The annual volume of different types of raw materials, which in sufficient quantities can provide production of biogas, is calculated and an analysis of three factors, influencing the biogas production, i.e. climate, ecology and materials is given. A comparative analysis of the annual biomass production of the world and Kazakhstan is done. It is shown that the biomass production from the livestock manure in Kazakhstan depends on the region. According to the calculations made in this paper, the accumulated annual amount of biomass in Kazakhstan is 0,002% of the annual biomass production in the world.
