Abstract

We theoretically investigate the dispersion relations of the compound coupled-resonator optical waveguides (CCROWs) in time domain by using the coupled-mode method. As a result, the dispersion relation and the group velocity are obtained. Unlike in the coupled-resonator optical waveguide, the field vibration in the CCROW splits. We also design CCROW in photonic crystals and demonstrate the optical properties by using finite-difference time-domain method, and an excellent agreement has been found with the theoretical analysis.
