Abstract

This paper studies on characteristics of common- mode voltage (CMV) of a four-leg matrix converter with balanced and unbalanced load. Four groups of switching states are divided and figures of the relationship between CMV peak value and inductance ratio k together with unbalanced factor are presented. The effect of ratio k on CMV amplitude is similar in balanced or unbalanced load. CMV peak value increases with unbalanced load compared to the balanced and the increment ratio is obtained which relates to ratio k. A general method to estimate the peak value of common-mode voltage is introduced and simulation results using SVM method confirms its validity.
