Abstract

Introduction: The relationship between irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and stress, depression and anxiety; negative effects on quality of life have been shown in studies so far. In this study, we aimed to investigate cognitive personality disorders through schema model. Methods: Our study was planed as a case-control study in patients with IBS who were admitted to the internal medicine outpatient clinic of our hospital. All participants completed the Young Schema Questionnaire-Short Form (YSQ-SF3), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), and Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI). Results: Case-control study including patients with IBS and 50 healthy individuals without any chronic disease. According to the Young schema model, IBS patients had higher pessimism, dependence / nesting and insecurity / social isolation schemas than control group. .
