Abstract

WEFAX images from the GMS (Geostationary Meteorological Satellite) at 140E are transmitted for SDUS (small scale data utilization station). To investigate the relationship between the annual summation of the amount of cloud introduced by A, B, C and D images and the annual summation of precipitation reported by the Meteorological Agency, throughout the year from March, 1989 to Feb., 1990, a comparative study was made in thirty-two cities appearing on the image of GMS. The data was separated into the two groups to analyze, the first group being the data for the cities where the larger amount of precipitation was observed throughout the year, and the second group for the cities with the smaller amount of precipitation. In both groups, the significance of the relationship between the amount of cloud and precipitation was proven to 95% reliability. >
