Abstract

This paper introduces an application study of closed loop system analysis and improvement at an automotive body shop. A novel method is presented to decompose the closed loop line into smaller loops, and iteration procedures are used to estimate the body shop throughput as a function of number of carriers. To improve system performance, the lean number of carriers is investigated and the bottleneck station is identified and mitigated.
