Abstract

Objective To investigate risk factors of central venous catheter-related infections (CVCRI) in patients with TPN. Methods Retrospectively analyze 86 cases who using the TPN during June 2009 to May 2010. Results CVC-RI rate was 8.1%, including older than 60 years accounted 57.14%, TPN treatment time more than 5 days accounted for 85.71% , catheter time more than 5 days 4 weeks accounted for 42.86% ,using the three-way pipe accounted for 57.14%, Stay ICU accounted for 71.43%. TPN treatment of CVC-RI in patients with and without CVC-RI related factors analyzed, age older than 60 years, TPN treatment time more than 3 days, catheter time more than 4 weeks, using the tube, stay in ICU, with statistical significance(P <0. 05). Conclusions Multiple factors lead to the occurrence of CVC-RI in patients with TPN. TPN patients with central venous catheter-related infection risk factors include: age, TPN treatment time, catheter insertion time, tube attachments, and stay ICU.
