Abstract
In this paper we present the analysis of cavity backed rectangular patch antennas with inhomogeneous chiral substrates. A variational formulation for the cavity antenna problem is firstly carried out and a Finite Element Method-Boundary Element Method (FEM-BEM) numerical technique is, then, applied in order to calculate both the radiation and the scattering properties of such antennas. The effects of the chirality and of the inhomogeneity are both pointed out through the numerical results presented.
