Abstract

A mathematical model is presented for transient and steady-state electromechanical analysis of cage induction motor by using the finite element method. The model is based on the coupling of field, field-circuit, circuit and motion equations. The electromagnetic processes in the active zone of the motor are described by a field equation, which is two-dimensional parabolic partial differential equation, including the media nonlinearities, eddy currents and rotor motion. The influence of the stator and rotor end regions is taken into account by circuit elements.
