Abstract

Lippmann–Bragg broadband volume holographic mirrors, with chirp normal to the surface are analysed using the rigorous characteristic matrix method. Substrate defects are taken into account using a random phase constant in the cosinusoidal index modulation and using a random hologram thickness chosen near the design value. The spectral and angular responses for TE and TM modes show a large tunable spectral bandwidth.
