Abstract

Objective To analyze the clinical characteristics of bilirubin encephalopathy in neonates at different gestational age in Guangdong Province. Methods Designed a questionnaire, selected 21 grade 2 A and above hospitals with neonatal department in Guangdong Province with the stratified random sampling method, with neonates diagnosed as bilirubin encephalopathy from neonatal department of 21 hospitals in 2014 as the object of study, recorded their clinical data. Results In 2014, 159 cases of bilirubin encephalopathy were reported from 21 hospitals; there were 8 cases of 0.05). Some of the cases were caused by two or more kinds of diseases, but there was no statistically significant difference in the rate of multiple causes among different gestational age (P>0.05). Conclusions Most of the infants with bilirubin encephalopathy in the survey were caused by G-6PD deficiency, hemolytic disease of the newborn, and neonatal infection, but the etiology of bilirubin encephalopathy in the cases were the same even in different gestational ages.
