Abstract
The problem of determining the displacements of a bed (linearly deformable and vertically inhomogeneous layer with a large thickness) under a periodic load is solved for conditions of plane deformation. The results obtained make it possible to calculate the maximum displacements of boundary points. Moreover, it is possible to replace the periodic load by a statically equivalent constant load, and the layer by a combined bed in which Winkler springs are added to the layer.
