Abstract

Numerical analysis of a body of revolution consisting of a homogeneous dielectric sphere and an external inhomogeneous dielectric layer with arbitrary generatrix at its excitation by a radial magnetic dipole located on the axis of rotation is carried out. The algorithm of the analysis is based on the hybrid projection method involving projection of the fields on the transverse spherical functions combined with the one-dimensional method of finite elements in the projection form. The algorithm is also modified for the case of a perfectly conducting internal sphere. A number of numerical results characterizing both the effectiveness of the method and properties of the inhomogeneous scatterers including a perfectly conducting sphere surrounded by an inhomogeneous plasma spheroid are presented and discussed.
