Abstract

ABSTRACT The Green's function approach is used to analyze planar conducting wires embedded in a two layered medium. The dielectric layer is assumed to be thin, therefore only the TM0 surface mode is considered. The Mixed Potential Integral Equation (MPIE) is used to formulate the problem. The MPIE is solved using the method of moments. The planar strips are modeled using the thin wire approach. The excitation is considered as a voltage gap source. The input impedance and reflection coefficient are computed for different thin wire antennas and transmission lines embedded in the two dielectric layers to show the flexibility in treating different structures. The numerical results for different geometries are compared with published results and the agreement is excellent. A new method for exciting a loop antenna by a transmission line is also presented.
