Abstract

The aperture-coupled dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) with a perpendicular feed is studied theoretically and experimentally. This excitation scheme has the advantage that it isolates the DRA from active circuitry and meanwhile fully utilizes the whole feed substrate for active-circuitry integration. The effects of the slot length, slot offset, and substrate permittivity on the input impedance are discussed.
