Abstract

In order to explain the working mechanism of the UWB ridged horn antenna, the equivalent traveling current model of the ridged horn antenna is established based on the surface current data obtained by simulating in CST Microwave Studio sottware®, Based on the model, a ridged horn antenna with metal grids is analyzed, and the reason why the antenna has stable directional radiation characteristics under ultra wideband is explained. The patterns calculated by the equivalent model are in good agreement with those simulated in CST, which proves the correctness of the proposed model. The simulation results show that the radiation of the ridged horn antenna is mainly generated by the current on the ridges.
