Abstract

AbstractA new optical satellite communication system with a local oscillator in the transmitter and one in the receiver station is presented. A new microwave–photonic receiver for picking up the stabilized microwave reference note is proposed. The system, which transmits a 2.5‐Gbps FSK signal, is analyzed. Satellite vibration, beam divergence, atmosphere absorption, and scattering are considered. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
