Abstract

Abstract This paper deals with three models for a two-unit cold-standby system under the assumption that each unit attains three different modes—normal (N), partial failure (P) and complete failure (F). Different types of repair men are employed for the three models. In model 1 the repair man is always with the system. In model 2 the repair man comes at the moment a unit fails, whereas in model 3 he takes some random time in reaching the system. Profit is calculated for each model and a comparison of these profits have been made.
