Abstract

In this paper the analysis of a geosynthetic reinforced soil wall by the limit equilibrium method is considered. The length, width, and thickness yield strength of reinforcement, vertical spacing, unit weight of soil, surcharge load on the wall and the coefficient of friction between the soil and the geosynthites are the design parameters considered in order to obtain a general solution by using the biplanar failure model. The minimum value of the ratio of the height of the wall to the length of reinforcement has been obtained in terms of slopes of the failure planes. The effect of vertical spacing and length of reinforcement of the failure height of the wall are also studied.
