Abstract

This paper deals with a system composed of two sub-systems (A and B) with their respective identical cold standbys. If sub-system B fails then the system still operates but the production reduces in this case while on failure of sub-system A, the system does not operate at all. The priority in repair is being given to sub-system A. Two service facilities are available. Identifying the system at suitable regenrative epochs, the integral equations are set up for the probabilities of system being in the ‘up’, ‘down’, or ‘failed’ state. Laplace transform technique is adopted to solve these equations and various reliability characteristics of interest to system designers have been obtained.
