Abstract

Objective To study the clinical characteristics of soft tissue and bone tumors of the hand.Methods Five hundred and sixty-six xases of soft tissue and bone tumors of the hand were retrospectively analyzed,which were excised and confirmed postoperatively with the pathological results in our hospital from January 1985 to December 2006. Results Hemangiomas are the most common soft tissue tumors of the hand,subsequently the ganglions,giant cell tumors of the tendon sheath,and glomus tumors.Enchondromas are the most common bone tumors;osteochondroma and giant cell tumors of bone are not common in the hand.Metastasis to the bones of the hand is rare. Conclusion Benign tumors are the moet common soft tissue and bone tumors of the hand.and satisfactory results can be obtained by proper treatment.Malignant tumors of the hand and metastasis to the hand are uncommon;however,they should be considered in differential diagnosis.
